Before you start

Open Thunderbird email client

Connect Cryptoucan to the computer

Open OpenPGP SmartCard Details window

It’s in the upper right corner of the window

Click the Enigmail option

This will open its sub-menu

Choose the option Manage SmartCard …

Now you got to the OpenPGP SmartCard Details window

Open the Generate OpenPGP Key window

Click the SmartCard option at the top bar

This will open its menu

Choose the Generate Key option

Now you got to the Generate OpenPGP Key window

Start the key generation process

Select identity

Select the account for which the key is being generated

Uncheck Save backup of key outside the card option

This function isn’t functional as a security feature

Set the time in which the key expires

Key does not expire is also an option you can choose

Click Generate

Enigmail Confirm window will pop up

Click Generate Key

Finish the process

The key generation process may take few minutes

Enter Administrative PIN3 when prompted

Use Cryptoucan keypad to enter the PIN, confirm it by pressing the hexagon symbol

Enter User PIN1 when prompted

Use Cryptoucan keypad to enter the PIN, confirm it by pressing the hexagon symbol

Enigmail Confirm window will pop up

when the process is successfully done

Get revocation certificate for your key

Click Generate Certificate

Select the folder in which you want to save the key

Keep the certificate in a safe place

Click Save

Enigmail Alert window will pop up

informing you that the certificate was generated

Close the window

And that’s it!
